The Interpretation Centre

This museum facility is equipped with exhibits to facilitate the visitor's reading and interpretation of the archaeological site. Its design reproduces the appearance of the pars urbana or housing from one of the many villae that existed in the territory of Segobriga. Spacious, simple, open-plan interior spaces, with large windows or viewpoints overlooking the landscape through which fields of crops can be seen, polished concrete floors and wooden ceilings.

At the entrance is the visitor reception area, with a ticket office and a shop. It is followed by a vestibule, where a map of the Roman Empire situates Segobriga and panels explain the origin and history of the city. From here, you can access the Audiovisual Room or Multipurpose Room and the Permanent Exhibition Hall.

An audiovisual presentation, 12′ long, explains the history and the monuments that can be visited in SegobrigaThe film is a mixture of real images with animations and virtual 3D reconstructions. It is offered in Spanish, English and subtitled for the hearing impaired.

The archaeological objects on display are originals, all from the excavations carried out at the site, including architectural elements, sculptures and inscriptions, coins, ceramics and metal objects, which provide information on the public and private daily life of the people of Segovia.

A large covered porch located at the exit of the Interpretation Centre is the starting point of the visit to the archaeological site.
